Obaro, who served under the National Party of Nigeria (NPN), represented what was then Kwara South Senatorial District, now part of Kogi Central.
Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo expressed deep condolences, describing the late senator’s death as a “major loss to his family, Kogi Central, and the entire state,” and praised him as a “distinguished statesman and patriot.”
Renowned as a bridge-builder and a committed advocate for the Ebira people, Obaro had a long and impactful career in both politics and public service.
Prior to his political career, he worked in the Federal Civil Service from 1958 to 1960 and pursued private legal practice between 1963–1968 and 1975–1979.
He also served as a commissioner in the Kwara State Executive Council from 1968 to 1975, showcasing a strong dedication to governance and public service.
During his tenure in the Senate, Obaro contributed significantly as a member of the Committee on Trade and Industries, championing initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of his constituency.
Born on August 20, 1934, in Okene, the late Senator Obaro leaves behind a legacy of service, integrity, and commitment to his people.
