In a post on his official X handle to commemorate Jonathan’s birthday on Sunday, Sani noted how the former president appointed an Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) chairman he had never known or met.
Sani also underscored that Jonathan, while in office, “approved the use of a data capturing system in the election that led to his eviction from power.”
He further pointed out that Jonathan, during his administration, invited an “opposition candidate to nominate one INEC commissioner.”
According to the former lawmaker, Jonathan “disagreed with the outcome of an election but went ahead and congratulated the winner for the sake of peace and unity in the country.”
Sani concluded by stating that to some, Jonathan is seen as a “man of peace, a true nationalist, and a patriot,” while to others, he was viewed as a “timid compromiser,” emphasizing that Jonathan played a crucial role in saving the country during critical moments.
