Former Kaduna Central lawmaker, Shehu Sani, has highlighted five major factors contributing to military coups in West Africa.

Speaking amidst the recent coup in Niger Republic, Sani pointed to the political class’s role in strangling democracy and limiting civil liberties, as well as economic challenges leading to widespread poverty and hunger.

He also cited security challenges due to the spread of terror groups and an overreliance on the military.
