Elder Gwamile reportedly slumped and died on Sunday, just hours after Aondona Dajoh’s resignation, which led to the election of Hon. Alfred Berger as the new Speaker during an emergency plenary session.
Sources disclosed that the late Elder Dajoh had been deeply troubled by the lingering political crisis in the Assembly before his unexpected passing. However, details surrounding the incident remain sketchy as of press time.
Meanwhile, Governor Hyacinth Alia has refuted claims linking him to an alleged plot to impeach the former Speaker, Aondona Dajoh.
In a statement issued on Friday by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, the governor stressed that he was unaware of any such plot, reiterating his respect for the legislature and commitment to upholding the rule of law.
Kula further noted that Governor Alia had recently demonstrated this commitment by promptly implementing critical resolutions forwarded to his office by the Assembly.
He maintained that the governor continues to enjoy a cordial and cooperative relationship with the Dajoh-led legislature, reaffirming his dedication to supporting its legislative duties for the growth and development of Benue State.
