Shock In Adamawa As Fufore Loses Second Council Chairman in Less Than Two Years
The people of Fufore Local Government Area in Adamawa State have been thrown into mourning following the death of the council chairman, Yahya Saidu.
According to Bush Radio Academy, Saidu died in the early hours of Friday, October 9, 2026, less than three months after he was sworn into office on July 15, 2026.
His death marks the second time a serving chairman of Fufore Local Government Area has died in office in less than two years. His predecessor, Alhaji Shuaibu Babas, reportedly died on April 23, 2025.
As of the time of filing this report, the deceased chairman’s family had yet to announce details of the burial arrangements.
Reacting to the development, Aliyu Boya Wakili, the member representing Fufore/Song Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, described Saidu as a dedicated public servant whose contributions to the people would be greatly missed.
Meanwhile, troops of the Nigerian Army operating under Operation Hadin Kai have reportedly neutralised 16 suspected terrorists and recovered weapons and ammunition during coordinated operations in Adamawa State.
The military operations covered the Boima general area of Gombi Local Government Area and other locations within Sector 4 of the operation’s area of responsibility.
Mohammed Goni, the Acting Military Information Officer at the Headquarters of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation Hadin Kai, disclosed the development in a statement shared on the Nigerian Army’s official X account on Thursday, October 1.
According to the military, the operations involved airstrikes against suspected terrorist targets and efforts to repel attacks on military positions.
The Army further stated that troops ambushed a suspected terrorist enclave in the Boima area of Gombi Local Government Area, resulting in the reported deaths of 16 terrorists.
