Dangote, who also serves as the Chancellor of the university, made the announcement during the institution’s 5th combined convocation ceremony held on Saturday.

He revealed that the N15 billion commitment is part of a comprehensive five-year development plan aimed at modernizing and expanding the university’s infrastructure and academic standards.

“As part of the development blueprint envisioned for the university,” Dangote stated, “the Dangote Foundation will invest N15 billion over the next five years in key areas including the construction of additional student hostels, lecture halls, a state-of-the-art multipurpose computer laboratory with internet access, a mini solar plant for uninterrupted power supply, and a befitting Senate building.”

He added that the plan also includes post-NYSC employment slots for top-performing graduates in engineering and related fields.

According to Dangote, the implementation of this transformation agenda will be executed in collaboration with the university’s Governing Council, supported by a structured project management system to ensure timely and budget-compliant delivery.

Meanwhile, Vice Chancellor Prof. Musa Tukur Yakasai disclosed that he inherited a debt of N3 billion upon taking office, of which the current administration led by Governor Abba Yusuf has already cleared over N2 billion.

Prof. Yakasai further noted that more than 30 out of the 40 academic programmes offered by the institution have secured full accreditation.

In a show of support, Governor Yusuf announced that his administration has approved the construction of internal road networks and drainage systems within the university.
