Reacting to Ganduje’s remarks about the people of Osun and Oyo, the PDP, through its state chairman, Sunday Bisi, called on the Presidency to investigate him, alleging that he is secretly advancing the interests of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) to create turmoil in Tinubu’s political stronghold while helping SDP consolidate power in the North.
The PDP further asserted that Osun State has experienced more progress in the last two years under its leadership than in the 12 years of APC governance. It emphasized that Osun residents are not puppets to be manipulated by directives from the APC national headquarters.
The party labeled Ganduje a failed leader who, after losing political control in his home state, is now attempting to cause instability in Tinubu’s government. It advised him to focus on reclaiming Kano State for the APC before dreaming of imposing what it called an unattainable “political hegemony” in the South-West.
In a strongly worded statement, the PDP said:
“It is unfortunate that our political climate has deteriorated to the point where people can make reckless statements without consequences. President Bola Tinubu did not send Ganduje on this self-destructive mission. The APC chairman is increasingly acting like a saboteur, deliberately attempting to ignite tensions in the President’s stronghold.
“At a time when the APC is experiencing significant internal divisions in the North, Ganduje is preoccupied with destabilizing Tinubu’s base instead of addressing the party’s crisis. His failure to stem the wave of defections in the North suggests he may even be colluding with those abandoning the APC.
“The Presidency must scrutinize Ganduje’s actions, as he not only lacks control over his own geopolitical zone but is also stoking division in the South-West, thereby undermining Tinubu’s leadership.
“Ganduje has proven to be an enemy of democracy, making reckless boasts about manipulating Nigeria’s political landscape as if the APC controls INEC. His obsession with Osun suggests he fears the PDP’s growing influence in the state.
“This is the same Ganduje who performed abysmally as the Governor of Kano and ultimately lost the state to another party. If he is so eager to reclaim territory, why not start with Kano instead of meddling in Osun?
“We are not intimidated by his threats. Just as we triumphed in 2022, we will emerge victorious again in 2026.”
