The leadership crisis in the Lagos State House of Assembly has been resolved following a crucial meeting between President Bola Tinubu and state lawmakers, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has confirmed.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The turmoil, which began with the impeachment of Speaker Mudashiru Obasa on January 13, 2025, and his reinstatement on March 3 after Mojisola Meranda stepped down under pressure, has now been settled.

APC spokesman Hon. Seye Oladejo stated that the meeting put an end to all speculation regarding the speakership.

“The matter is now resolved. The President addressed all concerns, and the lawmakers are satisfied with the outcome,” he said.

Oladejo emphasized Tinubu’s unifying influence, stating, “The President is our leader, and everyone respects his authority. He ensured a fair hearing for all sides, and the Assembly will now return to normalcy.”

A source familiar with the meeting’s outcome confirmed that Obasa will remain as Speaker, as determined by the President.

“Obasa is staying. The President made the final decision, and this meeting was meant to put the crisis to rest once and for all,” the source told Daily Trust.

Additionally, another source disclosed that Obasa has committed to fostering unity among lawmakers and avoiding intimidation or retaliation over the leadership dispute. As part of the settlement, he is also expected to withdraw his lawsuit against Meranda and other lawmakers involved in his impeachment.
