The incident occurred shortly after 10:00 PM on Saturday when the attackers confronted Sakaina in front of his home in Oke Ose, Ilorin, and shot him. Remarkably, the assailants left without taking any valuables, which has raised suspicions about their motives, according to a source.
A witness, Aina’u Sarki, shared, “I was with him just 20 minutes before the shooting. I received a call informing me that he had been killed.”
Muhammed Abdullahi, the Special Assistant to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Inter-Community Relations for the Fulani community, confirmed the news on Sunday morning, stating, “Yes, he was killed in front of his residence on Saturday night by gunmen who left him behind. We are preparing for his janaza now, and the police have already begun an investigation.”
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Ejire-Adeyemi Toun, was contacted for comment but had yet to respond by the time this report was filed.
Sakaina, who was 32 years old, had previously served as the Special Assistant to the Chairman of Moro Local Government and as Youth Leader for the Fulanis in Kwara.
