Shocking Revelation: Why Baba Suwe Turned His Back On Me – Ex-Wife Speaks Out
Ayodele Omidina, the estranged wife of the late Yoruba comic legend Babatunde Omidina, popularly known as Baba Suwe, has opened up about the heartbreaking reason behind their separation. She revealed that Baba Suwe “abandoned” her after tying the knot with fellow comedienne Omoladun.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a recent interview with actor and filmmaker Kunle Afod, Ayodele shared her side of the story, recounting how the veteran actor left her without offering any explanation—despite several reconciliation efforts made by friends and colleagues.
“It’s true, Baba Suwe abandoned me after he married Omoladun,” she said. “He didn’t give any explanation, even after many people approached him for reconciliation.”
Ayodele said she eventually accepted the situation, although Baba Suwe continued to support their children.
The separation, she noted, not only affected her emotionally but also had a negative impact on her acting career. According to her, Baba Suwe discouraged filmmakers and colleagues from giving her roles, portraying her as just a housewife.
“I stopped appearing in movies after our separation, not because I didn’t want to, but because Baba Suwe had already planted that perception,” she explained.
“He would tell people not to always cast me, saying I was just a full-time housewife. That label stuck, and many still don’t call me for roles. But I’m still very interested in acting.”
Reflecting on their history, Ayodele said she had been with Baba Suwe long before fame came his way.
“We were together as far back as 1979 before he even started acting. I was still a student when he proposed,” she recalled.
Despite their differences, Ayodele acknowledged Baba Suwe’s determination and drive, noting that he had always aspired to greatness—even when he had nothing.
“I married him when he had nothing. He was a determined man who wanted to succeed against all odds,” she said in a previous tribute.
Baba Suwe later married Omoladun, who passed away in September 2009. He himself died on November 22, 2021, at the age of 63.
