Showunmi Threatens To Expose Atiku’s Secrets If ADC Chieftain Targets Him Politically
Segun Showunmi, convener of the Alternative Movement and a member of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council for 2027, has threatened to expose alleged secrets about former Vice President Atiku Abubakar if the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential hopeful targets him politically.
Showunmi made the remarks during a media parley with editors in Abuja on Thursday, where he also defended his support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
According to Bush Radio Academy, Showunmi argued that Tinubu’s continued leadership would provide an opportunity to consolidate ongoing economic reforms, strengthen national stability and accelerate development across the country.
Reacting to the possibility of Atiku confronting him politically, Showunmi said he was prepared to respond, claiming that he knew damaging information about the former vice president.
He expressed frustration over what he described as political distractions, insisting that political competition should not overshadow discussions about national development.
Showunmi also delivered a broader message in support of Tinubu’s administration, arguing that Nigeria was at a critical stage in its development and needed continuity to sustain the progress he believes is underway.
According to him, the country was laying the groundwork for a more prosperous, stable and productive future, and the President deserved the support of Nigerians as the nation approached another election cycle.
He maintained that Nigeria should not abandon its pursuit of economic growth and national progress, urging citizens to sustain the momentum of ongoing reforms and ensure that their benefits reach households and communities across the federation.
Showunmi further stated that his support for Tinubu was based on his belief that Nigeria’s future was more important than any individual, political party or election. He cited the welfare of future generations, the dignity of citizens, the strength of national institutions and the productivity of the economy as key considerations.
He described the 2027 presidential election as an opportunity for Nigerians to reaffirm their commitment to national development, strengthen the country’s economic foundations and pursue greater prosperity.
His comments come amid growing political manoeuvring ahead of the 2027 general elections, as prominent figures across different political camps intensify their public declarations of support and criticism of potential opponents.
