Six Years Gone!— Mum Destroys Son’s Virtual Project Over C Grade In Maths

A mother has reportedly sparked widespread criticism after deleting her 13-year-old son’s Minecraft world as punishment for receiving a C grade in mathematics.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the teenager had spent about six years developing the virtual world, having started the project when he was seven years old. His aunt said the creation featured digital cities, redstone engineering, monuments and other projects he had developed alongside his friends.

The situation reportedly escalated after the boy’s mother accessed his computer and permanently deleted the Minecraft world following his mathematics result.

The teenager was said to have been devastated after discovering that years of his work had been erased. According to his aunt, he broke down in tears, but his mother reportedly dismissed his reaction, telling him, “It’s just a blocky video game, grow up.”

The aunt argued that the boy had lost far more than a video game, describing the Minecraft project as six years of creativity, memories and personal effort. She also claimed that the incident had affected the teenager’s trust in his mother, particularly because the project was deleted as a consequence of his school grade.

The mother reportedly later sought advice on Facebook about how to make her son “see reason.” The aunt said the post attracted about three million comments within three hours, with many commenters criticising the punishment and expressing concern about its potential effect on the relationship between the mother and her son.

The incident has since generated broader discussions online about parenting, discipline, children’s digital creations and the emotional value young people can attach to projects they spend years building.
