Slack And Get Sacked!” – Gov Yusuf Puts Kano Contractors On Strict Performance Alert

According to reports, Governor Yusuf issued this warning on Wednesday, shortly after returning from Morocco, where he was honoured with the African Governor of the Year award.
Rather than heading straight to the Government House, the Governor embarked on an impromptu inspection tour of various ongoing projects across Kano. His first stop was the road construction project near the airport, where he raised concerns over specific aspects of the work.
He instructed that the road must meet international benchmarks both in terms of durability and appearance, stating, “The road should be smooth and meet global best practices. There should be greenery on both sides.”
Governor Yusuf emphasized that all contractors are expected to uphold the administration’s core values of quality, transparency, and excellence.
“I have confidence in this company,” he noted while speaking to contractors at the airport roundabout, “but I must make it clear—there will be no compromise on quality. Even those close to me must meet the standards.”
He continued his inspection at the Lodge Road roundabout, directing that the central area be landscaped with trees planted at six-meter intervals and complemented by lush grass, particularly around the street lights. He also proposed adding a fountain to further enhance the roundabout’s visual appeal.
During his tour, Governor Yusuf also visited a mosque under construction, where he offered specific recommendations on structural improvements and the layout of its surroundings.
