Residents of Jalingo, the capital of Taraba State, have urgently called on the state government to address the rising cost of sachet water within the city. As reported by DAILY POST, the price of a single sachet has surged to an unprecedented 50 Naira.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Many locals have voiced their frustration, noting that the price hike is significantly higher than in nearby states like Adamawa and Gombe, where sachet water still sells for as low as 20 Naira or two sachets for 50 Naira.

Concerned residents are appealing to the state government to investigate water distribution companies’ practices and suggest that the chairman of the sachet water producers’ association be called in for questioning.

“It is unfortunate that the activities of sachet water manufacturers, especially in Jalingo, remain unchecked by the government,” lamented Musa Ahmadu, a local resident.

Citing the high cost of living, Ahmadu urged the government to implement regulatory measures to curb price inflation. Other residents agreed, urging the government to prevent companies from exploiting the public.

Some water producers, however, attribute the price increase to rising petroleum product costs, which they say have led to higher production expenses.
