She gave the advice during a Mother’s Day service at Salvation Ministries in Rivers.
Speaking during the service, Pastor Peace Ibiyeomie stated that some divorced women publicly speak negatively about marriage while still engaging in relationships with men privately.
According to her, married women should encourage divorced friends or relatives toward reconciliation with their spouses or remarriage instead of embracing bitterness toward marriage.
“Do not make a divorced woman your close companion, even if she is your sister. Encourage her to reconcile with her husband or remarry,” she said.
She further claimed that some single and divorced women privately admitted to her that they still maintain relationships with men despite publicly dismissing the importance of marriage.
Ibiyeomie questioned why some women condemn marriage while remaining romantically involved with men, arguing that such positions appear contradictory.
“If men are truly not important, then why remain involved with them?” she asked.
The cleric also cautioned women against allowing painful experiences from failed marriages to negatively influence the marriages of others.
“A failed marriage should not become a reason to destroy another person’s home,” she added.
She concluded by urging women to carefully choose the company they keep, noting that relationships and friendships can either uplift or negatively influence a person’s life and legacy.
