Speaking to journalists at the party secretariat in Sokoto on Friday, the state chairman, Isa Sadiq Acida, commended Governor Aliyu’s performance within the first seven months of his administration, especially in addressing security concerns. Acida acknowledged the governor’s collaborative efforts with security agencies at both state and federal levels, emphasizing the provision of adequate support, including high-quality vehicles.

Acida stated, “Your assistance to the security agencies, and the provision of the right caliber of vehicles, has been severally applauded, even by the highest echelon of the military.” He highlighted the positive outcomes of the collaboration, noting that bandits are being actively pursued and attacked in their hideouts, resulting in the liberation of numerous innocent victims.

The chairman also praised the governor’s initiative to enact a law establishing a community guard corps, equipped with proper transportation and armaments, as a significant step towards ending banditry and fostering a secure and peaceful Sokoto State by 2024.

Acknowledging Governor Aliyu’s dedication to various social initiatives, including the construction of 500 housing estates in Wakaje village within the Wamakko Local Government, Acida called on opposition parties in the state to collaborate with the administration. He emphasized the governor’s commitment to completing all ongoing projects inherited from the previous administration.

Despite these efforts, Sokoto State has faced numerous bandit attacks in recent months, with several citizens losing their lives. In December alone, the state witnessed multiple bandit attacks, leading to a tragic loss of lives in various communities. The APC’s reassurance underscores the ongoing commitment to address and overcome the security challenges faced by the state.
