Captain Oni Olubodunde, Acting Assistant Director of the 6 Brigade Army Public Relations, announced that troops have successfully apprehended the owner of an abandoned vehicle found with arms in Taraba State.

The individual, identified as Mallam Abubakar Adamu, was arrested on Sunday along with an accomplice in the Wukari local government area. This development followed a recent operation where an AK-47 rifle and a vehicle were recovered in Bantaje town, Wukari Council.

According to Olubodunde, the 6 Brigade/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) conducted a follow-up operation on September 8, 2024, leading to the arrest of Mallam Abubakar Adamu and his accomplice. Through meticulous investigation and intelligence gathering, the troops were able to track down and detain Adamu, who is a suspect in local criminal activities.

During questioning, Adamu admitted to having sent the driver, who is still at large, to transport the weapon from Doruwa village to Wukari. Alongside Adamu, two mobile phones were recovered during the arrest in Mutum Biyu. The union driver, Mallam Isah Ibrahim, was also apprehended as an accomplice.

Both suspects are now in custody and are undergoing further interrogation to uncover the full extent of their involvement in criminal activities and to locate the fugitive driver.

Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, the commander, expressed satisfaction with the operation, stating that the arrests highlight the troops’ dedication to upholding peace and security in Taraba and surrounding areas.
