South Africa’s Vice President Paul Mashatile collapsed during a public event in Limpopo on Saturday afternoon. The incident happened while he was speaking at a gathering in Tzaneen to mark the inauguration of a local traditional leader.
The Limpopo provincial government has reported that Mashatile, who was affected by the intense heat while delivering his speech, is now in stable condition. Premier Phophi Ramathuba, who is also a medical doctor, reassured the public that Mashatile was receiving proper medical attention and was not in any immediate danger.
Ramathuba, who witnessed the event, said, “The deputy president is doing fine and is under the care of his medical team. I was with him, and there’s no cause for concern.”
Mashatile collapsed due to the extreme heat but was promptly attended to and is currently in the process of recovery.
