The youth group expressed its disapproval of the ultimatum from the PDP and pointed out that prior to Governor Akeredolu’s illness, he had been a resolute advocate and supporter of the vulnerable and voiceless.
During a press conference held at the NUJ Press Centre in Akure, the state’s capital, yesterday, the youth leaders, led by the South West Zonal Youth Leader, Lawal “Paff” Kolade, emphasized that the people of Ondo State and the broader southwest region owed Governor Akeredolu their understanding and trust due to his consistent leadership.
Kolade stated, “Let us not forget the times when Mr. Governor championed our cause. He remained unwavering in defending Ondo State and the entire Southwest during periods of violence caused by herdsmen in this region.”
While recognizing the legitimate concerns raised by the state’s residents regarding the governor’s whereabouts, the youth leader pointed out that recent days have seen notable progress in several projects overseen by the administration despite his absence.
He added, “Governor Akeredolu’s decision to prioritize rest and adjust his normal work schedule for a full recovery is a testament to his humanity, reminding us that even leaders are not exempt from the challenges of human frailty.”
