Sowore Makes Shocking Discovery, Alleges DSS Planted Tracking Device on Vehicle

Human rights activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has accused the Department of State Services (DSS) of allegedly tracking his movements during his recent visit to Rivers State.

Sowore made the allegation after attending the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Annual General Conference in Port Harcourt, claiming that an electronic tracking device was discovered underneath a security vehicle used by his team.

According to reports, the activist raised the alarm in a post shared on social media, alleging that he had been under surveillance since arriving in Port Harcourt for the conference.

Sowore said the discovery was made after he delivered a speech at a Kay Hikers gathering. He explained that members of his team noticed what they considered unusual movements and subsequently decided to switch vehicles.

According to Sowore, the change of vehicle led to the discovery of an electronic tracking device attached beneath the security vehicle they had been using.

He alleged that the device was deliberately planted to monitor his movements while he was in the state, accusing the DSS of being behind the alleged surveillance.

Sowore questioned the motive behind what he described as an attempt to monitor him, insisting that the discovery suggested that security authorities were closely following his activities.

However, the activist did not provide further details about the device, including its technical specifications or independent evidence establishing who installed it.

As of the time of the report, the DSS had not publicly responded to Sowore’s allegation or confirmed that it was monitoring his movements.

The allegation comes amid Sowore’s longstanding criticism of government institutions and security agencies, particularly over issues relating to civil liberties, political activities and alleged intimidation of dissenting voices.
