Soyombo Reveals Main Reasons For Avoiding The Military During His Oil Bunkering Investigation – Nigerian’s ReactInvestigative journalist Fisayo Soyombo has disclosed that his decision to exclude the Nigerian military from his investigation into crude oil bunkering in the Niger Delta stemmed from allegations of collusion between military personnel and illegal bunkerers.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, Soyombo accused security operatives across various agencies, including the military, of accepting bribes to facilitate oil theft. This systemic corruption, he claimed, compelled him to operate independently to avoid jeopardizing his investigation.
Soyombo, who was detained by the Nigerian Army for three days during a raid on an illegal bunkering site, revealed that his cover was blown by military insiders who allegedly provided details about him to the bunkerers.
“How did the illegal bunkerers know everything about me while I was in detention, unable to contact anyone? This vindicates my decision not to involve the military from the start,” Soyombo said.
Despite his indictment of certain military elements, the journalist acknowledged that some personnel remain committed to eradicating oil theft in Nigeria. His ordeal has reignited concerns about corruption and collaboration within the nation’s security agencies.
