Repent Before God’s Wrath Falls! — Woman Sparks Debate Over Christian Dressing

Published

A woman has sparked debate over Christian modesty and personal appearance after claiming that wearing earrings is sinful and urging Christian women to remove their jewellery if they hope to make heaven.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the woman shared a lengthy message in which she argued that God created women without pierced ears, suggesting that this was an indication that women were not intended to wear earrings.

She also compared women who wear gold and other ornaments to the biblical figure Jezebel, questioning why Christians who seek holiness would adorn themselves with jewellery.

To support her position, the woman cited several Bible passages, including 1 Timothy 2:9-10 and 1 Peter 3:3-4, which discuss modest dressing and emphasise inner character over outward appearance. She interpreted the scriptures as discouraging women from wearing gold, pearls and expensive ornaments, insisting that earrings conflict with biblical principles of modesty.

She further referenced Isaiah 3:16-24, a passage describing God’s judgement against the proud daughters of Zion and the removal of their ornaments. She also cited Leviticus 19:28, which prohibits certain forms of cutting the body, arguing that ear piercing goes against God’s original design.

In a strongly worded warning, the woman called on Christian women to repent and remove what she described as an abomination. She declared, “Repent! Take off that abomination of Jezebel before the wrath of God falls on you!”

Her comments have drawn attention to differing interpretations of biblical teachings on modesty, jewellery and physical appearance. While some Christians interpret the cited passages as a call to simplicity and restraint, views on whether wearing earrings constitutes a sin vary among individuals and denominations.

However, the available account did not identify the woman’s church or denomination, nor did it provide verified details of public reactions to her message.
