Hon. Abubakar Kabir Bichi, for the approval of what they termed the people-centric 2023 supplementary budget proposed by President Bola Tinubu.
In a statement, the group praised the dedication of Speaker Abbas and Chairman Bichi, which led to the prompt consideration, defense, and approval of the N2.176 trillion budget, signed into law by President Tinubu on Wednesday.
The group’s conveners, Umeh Faith and Fidelis Sunday, highlighted that the House, under the leadership of Abbas and the Appropriations Committee led by Bichi, demonstrated sensitivity to the challenges faced by Nigerians and prioritized the nation’s interests.
Recognizing the urgency of the budget in addressing the hardships experienced by Nigerians, as well as the country’s security and infrastructure needs, the Green Chamber promptly approved the request to allocate funds to address these issues.
They noted that President Tinubu had sent a letter the previous week, requesting the swift approval of the supplementary appropriation bill (budget) to enable the federal government to finance additional relief measures and other projects.
On the same day, the House of Representatives scheduled the executive bill (budget) for a second reading and swiftly passed it, referring it to the Committee on Appropriations for further legislative processes.
