The details of the allocation are part of the 2024 Appropriation Bill released by the Budget Office of the Federation. The budget, presented by President Bola Tinubu, has been named the ‘Budget of Renewed Hope.’ The spending decisions of the Tinubu-led administration have faced criticism for what some experts label as “frivolous spending” amid economic challenges, including the removal of fuel subsidy.
In addition to the State House budget, the proposed 2024 Appropriation Bill includes an allocation of N15.961 billion for international and domestic travel expenses for President Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and their aides. Tinubu’s travel budget amounts to N7.630 billion, with a significant portion designated for foreign trips, while Shettima’s travel allowance is proposed at N1.847 billion, covering both foreign and local travels.
