State Leaders React To Buhari’s Passing, Praise His National Impact

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing his death as a major loss to Africa’s pantheon of iconic leaders.

In a statement issued on Sunday, July 13, 2025, by NGF Chairman and Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, the Forum praised Buhari for his exceptional moral strength, steadfast character, and unwavering commitment to national service.

“This is a profound loss for Nigeria and the African continent. Muhammadu Buhari was far more than a former President or military ruler—he was a principled leader whose humility, calm resolve, and disciplined lifestyle left an indelible mark on our nation,” the statement read.

The Forum extended heartfelt condolences to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the passing of his close associate and predecessor, and also to the former First Lady, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, and the entire Buhari family.

Additionally, the NGF offered its sympathies to Governor Dikko Umar Radda and the people of Katsina State, Buhari’s home state, mourning the passing of one of their most distinguished sons.

The governors concluded their message by praying that Allah grants the late President eternal rest in Al-Jannah Firdaus and bestows strength upon his family and the nation to bear the loss.
