State Police Receives Support From 36 Key Speakers

In a related development, Assistant Inspector General of Police Ben Okolo recently clarified remarks he made at the National Dialogue on State Police in Abuja. Initially, Okolo had expressed personal views suggesting that Nigeria isn’t yet prepared for state policing, despite the country’s numerous security challenges. He had also proposed the integration of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) into police departments.

However, Okolo later retracted his statements during a briefing at the Force Headquarters, emphasizing that his views were personal and did not reflect the official stance of the Nigeria Police Force or its Inspector General. He assured that the Force’s position on the matter would be communicated soon.
