Okafor is widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s most gifted and generously compensated comedic figures. His performances are characterized by uproarious antics, absurdity, and a distinct departure from reality.
Hailing from Nkanu West L.G.A., Enugu State, Okafor’s journey to success was marked by resilience and determination. Following his father’s passing in 1974, he relocated to Sapele to live with his brother. In Sapele, he engaged in various odd jobs to finance his education and support his family.
From hairstyling to photography and employment at a crate production company, Okafor’s diverse experiences shaped his path. Despite facing financial constraints, he pursued education, initially at the College of Education, Yola, before eventually enrolling at the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu.

Okafor’s illustrious career spans over 200 Nollywood films, including memorable titles such as “Mr. Ibu” (2004), “Mr. Ibu and His Son,” “Coffin Producers,” “Husband Suppliers,” “International Players,” “Mr. Ibu in London” (2004), “Police Recruit” (2003), “9 Wives” (2005), and “Ibu in Prison” (2006), among numerous others.
One of his standout roles, earning him the moniker “Mr. Ibu,” was in “Mr. Ibu and His Son,” where he portrayed the father of Osita Iheme, famously known as Paw Paw. This comedic duo has brought endless joy and laughter to audiences worldwide.
Unfortunately, the legendary actor has reportedly passed away at the age of 62. Sources close to him confirm his demise at Evercare Hospital.
Fans have taken to various platforms to express their condolences, reminiscing about the timeless performances of the late actor.
Previously reported by Bushradiogist in November, the family of Mr. Ibu disclosed his undergoing seven surgeries. Despite undergoing five successful procedures, including the amputation of one leg, he was scheduled for further treatment abroad before his untimely passing
