The media adviser to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Paul Ibe, has shed light on why his principal has yet to formally declare his ambition for the 2027 presidential race.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In an interview with Trust TV, Ibe explained that Atiku is deliberately delaying his announcement in order to consolidate a strong political structure capable of supporting his bid. According to him, some political actors are attempting to lure Atiku into making an early declaration, but he will not “fall for that bait.”

He stressed that, for now, Atiku’s priority is to strengthen the coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), alongside figures like former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai, to build a formidable platform that can challenge President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

“Atiku Abubakar will not fall for that bait. The real task now is putting structures in place so that when the tsunami begins, the platform will be ready to carry everyone who aligns and realigns,” Ibe stated.

He further emphasized that Atiku’s resignation from the PDP and alignment with the ADC are “irreversible,” noting that the former Vice President is fully committed — “body, soul, and resources.”

Ibe added that Atiku will make his declaration when the timing is right: “When do you serve a meal? You serve it when it is ready.”

His remarks follow recent clarifications that Atiku has not stepped down for any aspirant ahead of 2027. Contrary to media reports suggesting that he would withdraw if a younger candidate emerged in the ADC, Ibe insisted that Atiku’s interview with BBC Hausa was misrepresented.

According to Ibe, a review of both the transcript and video confirmed that nowhere did Atiku say or imply he would step aside for another candidate.
