Reports indicate that Nurein, who was preparing to contest in the February 22 local government elections, passed away on Tuesday after a brief illness. His unexpected demise has left his family, friends, and political allies in deep shock.

Announcement and Tributes

The tragic news was first shared by Akintunde Bello Sheriff, Senior Special Assistant to the Osun Governor on the Bureau of Social Services, in an emotional Facebook post.

Sheriff described Nurein as a close friend, recalling their shared memories. He wrote, “The Councillor waiting to be elected in my ward has bid the world farewell this afternoon after a brief illness. We grew up together, but now Nureni is gone. We last gathered during the New Year festivities, unaware that his time on earth was nearing its end. This is a devastating loss for the PDP Family in Ede North. May Allah grant him eternal rest.”

Party Reaction

Oladele Bamiji, the PDP spokesperson in Osun, also expressed his condolences, praising Nurein as a beloved figure. He said, “The outpouring of emotions from those who knew him speaks volumes about his character. May God grant him eternal rest and give his family the strength to bear this loss. The PDP family deeply mourns his passing.”

Nurein’s death marks a somber moment for the PDP and the Ede North community as they prepare for the upcoming local government elections.
