In related news, SaharaReporters previously reported the release of Junaidu Abdullahi, known as Abusalma, a popular TikToker who was arrested for calling for mass protests against economic hardship.

Abusalma was detained by the Department of State Services (DSS) and warned not to participate in the upcoming #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest scheduled for August. After being initially held in Kano prison, Abusalma was released following intervention from Omoyele Sowore, leader of the #RevolutionNow movement.
