Super Falcons Star Comfort Erhabor Joins Crystal Palace As Tunde Akinsola Seals Belgium Move

Super Falcons goalkeeper Comfort Erhabor has completed a move to Crystal Palace Women, while Nigerian winger Tunde Akinsola has also secured a transfer to Belgian Pro League side Cercle Brugge. Both moves were confirmed amid a busy period of transfer activity involving Nigerian players abroad.

Erhabor, 21, joined Crystal Palace as a free agent after leaving Portsmouth, where she made six appearances across all competitions during the 2025/26 campaign. She has signed a two-year contract with the English club.

Born in the Netherlands and raised in England, the goalkeeper began her football career at Brighton & Hove Albion before gaining senior experience during loan spells with Hibernian and Plymouth Argyle.

Her progression eventually earned her a place in the Super Falcons, with Erhabor making her senior international debut in February when she started Nigeria’s friendly against Cameroon. She was subsequently included in the squad for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

Erhabor will now compete for a place in the Crystal Palace squad following the club’s promotion to the Women’s Super League after finishing second in WSL 2 last season.

The goalkeeper expressed excitement about joining Palace, describing the transfer as an important step towards her ambition of competing at the highest level.

Crystal Palace manager Jo Potter also welcomed the Nigerian international, describing her as a promising young goalkeeper and expressing delight at securing her services.

Meanwhile, Tunde Akinsola has completed his move from Portuguese club AVS Futebol SAD to Cercle Brugge in Belgium.

The 23-year-old winger, who is capable of playing on either flank, has signed a contract that will keep him at Cercle Brugge until June 2030, with an option for an additional year.

Akinsola attracted attention during his time in Portugal with his pace, technical ability and direct approach in attack. Cercle Brugge technical director Luciano Murchio highlighted the winger’s one-on-one ability, versatility and potential to strengthen the club’s attacking options.

Akinsola began his career with Valiant FC before moving to Swedish side Vasalund at the age of 17. He later joined Real Valladolid in 2022 and made his La Liga debut against Sevilla the following year.

He moved to AVS on loan in 2024 before making the transfer permanent later that year.

The two transfers represent another opportunity for Nigerian players to gain experience in competitive European leagues, with Erhabor set to continue her development in England and Akinsola beginning a new chapter in Belgium.
