Not only is the video false, but it also points to a larger trend of misinformation campaigns. There are claims suggesting that numerous videos of President Tinubu’s purported gaffes during his presidential campaign, which became viral sensations, might also have been artificially generated by opposition parties. Such a strategy is not new in politics, but with the advent of more sophisticated technology, deep fake videos can appear alarmingly realistic. This presents a significant challenge for not only politicians but also the general public, as it becomes hard to discern fact from fiction.

Since his victory in the elections, those familiar with President Tinubu’s public appearances have noted that he no longer makes these so-called gaffes, contradicting the narrative that was pushed during the campaign period. This has led many to question the authenticity of the earlier videos, especially given the hostility from certain sections of the younger generation on social media.

Reacting to the deep fake video, Arise TV released a statement: “ARISE News totally dissociates itself from a DEEP FAKE VIDEO making the rounds on social media mimicking the What’s Trending segment’s anchor, Ojy Okpe.
