Suspected Kidnapper Nabbed In Kaduna; DPO Refuses N1m Bribe To Influence Investigation
Police at Tafa Divisional Headquarters in Kaduna State apprehended a suspected kidnapper and successfully recovered the ransom he received. The police, led by the Divisional Police Officer, raided the hotel and seized the sum of N2,350,000, believed to be proceeds from kidnapping activities. Subsequent investigation revealed that the suspect was part of a kidnapping gang operating in the Kagarko forest in Kaduna. Evidence on his mobile phone, including pictures of him wielding an AK47 rifle in a forest, supported his confession.
In a surprising twist, Bello Muhammad attempted to bribe the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) with a million naira to halt the investigation, but the offer was promptly rejected. The investigation remains ongoing, with the suspect cooperating with the police and providing crucial information.
The Commissioner of Police, CP A.D Ali, commended the Tafa Division’s operatives for their success in the operation. He urged law enforcement personnel to sustain their efforts in combating crime, emphasizing the need to reduce criminal activities. Additionally, the CP advised hoteliers and operators in the recreation and leisure industry to thoroughly verify the identities of their customers to prevent criminals from finding refuge in their establishments.
