President Tinubu made the announcement regarding the removal of the subsidy in his inauguration speech on May 29. However, since the subsidy’s removal, there have been two price increments in petrol, causing hardship for citizens.

Adeyeye emphasized that if President Tinubu had not taken the step to remove fuel subsidy, the Nigerian economy could have faced a complete crash with significant implications.

According to the former Senate Spokesperson, the nation will not benefit unless painful decisions are made by the Tinubu-led government.

He said, “The removal of oil subsidies and the new exchange rate regime of President Bola Tinubu, for now, have led to inflationary pressure, causing some hardship for the masses. As the saying goes, there is no gain without pain.”

Drawing an analogy, Adeyeye likened the current challenges to the pain of childbirth, stating that enduring these difficulties now would lead to lasting benefits in the future.

He urged Nigerians not to judge President Tinubu based on the early days of his administration, reassuring them that the positive effects of his policies would become evident in due time.

Adeyeye stressed that the president understands the hardships faced by the nation and asked for patience as his policies mature and deliver positive outcomes.

With over 46 months remaining in President Tinubu’s first term of 48 months, Adeyeye expressed confidence that Nigerians would witness the results of the president’s actions and ultimately give glory to God for the transformation.
