The accused individuals, Adelakun and Akinlolu, both residents of Omi-Adio, and Oloyede, residing in Bakatari along the Ibadan/Abeokuta Expressway, faced charges of conspiracy and causing indignity to a corpse, as filed by the police. Despite the charges, the defendants entered pleas of not guilty during the court proceedings.

Magistrate Mrs. M. M. Olagbenro granted bail to the defendants at N200,000 each, along with one surety each. The magistrate then adjourned the case until February 29 for further hearings.

The prosecution, represented by Inspector Olalekan Adegbite, asserted that the three defendants conspired to commit the offenses. Adegbite explained that Adelakun, Oloyede, and Akinlolu were accused of improperly tampering with a corpse, having been arrested on January 10 around 5:45 p.m. while in possession of human flesh. The prosecution argued that the defendants were en route to Bakatari to visit the herbalist’s house after allegedly exhuming a deceased body.
