Tambuwal Breaks Silence: ‘Why I’ll Join APC To Seek Forgiveness
Former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, has declared that he will never join the All Progressives Congress (APC) in a bid to seek “forgiveness of sins.”....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
His remark comes in the wake of reports that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had questioned him in Abuja over alleged fraudulent cash withdrawals amounting to ₦189 billion.
Speaking to his supporters upon his return to Sokoto on Friday, Tambuwal — a member of the opposition coalition — dismissed any notion of defecting to the APC for political redemption.
“I do not want my sins forgiven, so I cannot join the APC. I cannot be intimidated or blackmailed. No one can tarnish my record,” he stated.
Tambuwal argued that Nigeria’s political divide is clear — between those who align with President Bola Tinubu’s government and those who stand with the people — stressing that he has chosen to side with the latter.
The former governor also insisted on his innocence, explaining that his visit to the EFCC was voluntary. He denied claims that he illegally withdrew over ₦2 billion monthly from Sokoto State Government accounts, questioning the plausibility of such figures.
“My visit to the EFCC was of my own free will. I was questioned and released on self-recognition as a Commander of the Federal Republic (CFR). The allegation that I withdrew over ₦2 billion monthly is a blatant lie. How much is even the state’s monthly allocation from the Federal Government?” he asked.
