The shooting reportedly happened around 7:30 a.m., during a routine patrol by police officers stationed at the busy roundabout.
The witness stated that as the Toyota vehicle carrying Emmanuella and a young male driver approached the checkpoint, officers signaled them to stop. However, when the driver failed to bring the car to a halt, the officers allegedly opened fire.
“Tragically, the young woman was struck by a bullet. She was immediately rushed to the hospital, but sadly, she succumbed to her injuries due to excessive blood loss,” the source told Vanguard.

Prominent gender rights activist Ukan Kurugh warned that a total shutdown of Makurdi could begin by next Tuesday if the Benue State Police Command fails to address the matter adequately.
