According to a statement released on Monday, the singers lost their lives in a collision along the Ikorodu/Sagamu Road in Ogun State. The deceased were identified as Evangelist Ayodeji Kekerejesu, Evangelist Iyanu Joseph, Monjolajesu Oluwapamilerin, and Opeyemi.

Okpe revealed that the fatal accident occurred when the vehicle transporting the gospel singers collided with another car. All four victims, who were said to be from the same family, died on the spot.

Expressing her condolences to the bereaved families, she urged motorists to shun excessive speeding to avoid such tragic incidents.

In a related development, no fewer than seven people were also confirmed dead in a separate accident that occurred early Saturday morning near the NIPCO filling station along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Okpe, in a separate statement from Abeokuta, disclosed that the accident occurred at about 7:00 a.m. and involved a Mack truck (SEY 363 YY), a fuel tanker (T2900LA), and a passenger bus (LSD 180 YA).

She stated that 15 individuals were involved in the crash — 13 men and two women. While four sustained injuries, seven were confirmed dead. The cause of the accident was attributed to excessive speeding, which led to the Mack truck driver losing control and crashing into the other two vehicles.
