Tension In Abuja: Inside Details Of President Tinubu’s Secret Meeting With COAS Unearthed

President Bola Tinubu, on Tuesday, held a closed-door meeting with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, amid growing security concerns across the country.

Speaking with State House correspondents after the meeting, Lt. Gen. Shaibu assured Nigerians that the military is stepping up efforts to strengthen security and restore peace nationwide.

When asked what Nigerians should expect in the coming weeks, the Army Chief simply said, “Improved security across the country.”

Shaibu explained that his briefing to the President included updates from his recent operational tour of the North-East, where troops continue to combat insurgency and restore stability.

“I came to brief him on the outcome of my visit to the North-East and to review the security situation across the country, which has been satisfactory within this period,” he stated.

The COAS noted that his assessment of ongoing military operations showed encouraging progress, especially in regions plagued by insurgency and banditry.

He reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to safeguarding citizens and maintaining national stability in close coordination with other security agencies.

Although he declined to disclose operational specifics, Shaibu’s comments come as joint military offensives intensify against terrorists and armed groups in several states.

His assurance follows reports of recent airstrikes by the Nigerian Air Force in Borno, Katsina, and Kwara, which allegedly neutralized hundreds of terrorists hiding in forest enclaves.
