Tension In Aso Rock: Tinubu Summons Ministers, FIRS Boss Over Sh*cking Office Closure

President Bola Tinubu on Monday convened a series of high-level meetings at the State House in Abuja, including a crucial session with the Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Zacch Adedeji.

The meetings came in the wake of a controversial move by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), which sealed the FIRS office located in Zone 5, Abuja, over claims of 25 years of unpaid ground rent.

In response, the FIRS strongly criticized the FCTA’s action, describing the office closure as “malicious” and “unprofessional.”

Taking to social media, Arabirin Aderonke Atoyebi, Technical Assistant on Broadcast Media to the FIRS Executive Chairman, publicly condemned the FCTA’s approach and accused Minister Nyesom Wike’s administration of targeting the agency unfairly.

The FCTA has defended its decision, citing the alleged unpaid rent as justification, but the FIRS has rejected the claim as baseless and expressed concern over the handling of the issue, calling it an attempt to resolve a longstanding matter in a confrontational way.

Amid the rising tensions, President Tinubu also held separate meetings with the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, and the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu.
