In a letter dated May 26, 2025, and addressed to the PDP chairman of his Rafau Ward in Barkin Ladi LGA, Plateau State, Gyang announced his resignation, marking the end of nearly ten years of committed service and contributions to the party’s development.
Speaking in the letter obtained by journalists in Jos, Gyang expressed disappointment with the PDP’s current leadership and direction, alleging that it has “derailed from fundamental democratic principles” and no longer upholds a people-focused agenda.
He further criticized the party’s failure to champion Plateau State’s strategic interests, stating that the PDP leadership lacks the influence to effectively position the state within the national political framework.
“I hereby tender my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), effective May 26, 2025,” Gyang wrote. “After almost a decade of dedicated membership, active participation, and significant contributions—including to the party’s 2023 electoral victory—the PDP has deviated from its foundational democratic ethos and lost its people-centric focus.”
He added, “With the visible shortcomings of the party’s leadership structure, the capacity to project and secure Plateau State’s strategic place in Nigeria’s political dynamics is greatly diminished.”
Gyang emphasized his continued commitment to equity, fairness, inclusiveness, and good governance, vowing to help preserve an open and democratic political environment in the state.
