Tension In Ekiti As Court Halts Battle Over PDP Governorship Ticket
The Federal High Court in Ado-Ekiti has adjourned to December 8, 2025, the suit contesting the emergence of Wole Oluyede as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship flagbearer in Ekiti State.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Oluyede was declared winner of the party’s primary election held on November 8, 2025, by the Senator Ibrahim Dankwambo-led electoral panel, securing 279 votes ahead of his closest rival, Funsho Ayeni, and Mrs. Funmi Ogun.
But Ayeni, in suit number FHC/AD/CS/29/2025, is asking the court to nullify the primary result, insisting the process was compromised and should not stand.
During Friday’s sitting, Kola Kolade, SAN, led Ayeni’s legal team, while Ola Olanipekun, SAN, and Owoseni Ajayi appeared for Oluyede. The PDP was represented by its Osun State Legal Adviser, Barr. Ola Alonge, who held brief for the party.
After hearing submissions from the lawyers, Justice Babs Ikuewumi assured the parties that the case would be treated expeditiously, pledging to ensure “speedy hearing” before adjourning to December 8, 2025.
Meanwhile, PDP chieftain Umar Sani has shed light on why Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke was absent during the party’s primary election in the state.
Speaking on Arise TV’s Morning Show on Friday, Sani claimed Adeleke intentionally stayed away due to internal disputes he believes could prevent the PDP from presenting a legitimate candidate.
He alleged that the governor plans to temporarily defect to another political party to obtain a ticket, with the intention of later returning to the PDP.
Sani, who chaired the three-man ad hoc delegates committee in Osun, said he supervised the delegates’ congress in Osogbo, confirming the results were peacefully conducted, duly uploaded to the INEC portal, and officially acknowledged.
He added that the party leadership rejected the governor’s alleged strategy, insisting that all aspirants must transparently compete under the PDP platform to safeguard its credibility.
