Tension In Plateau As Fresh Details Surface On Abducted Lawmaker’s Ordeal

Gunmen kidnapped Jacob on Monday night at his residence in the Dong community of Jos North Local Government Area.

As of Tuesday morning, neither the Plateau State government nor security agencies had issued an official statement. However, a family member confirmed the incident in an interview with Daily Post.

According to the source, who requested anonymity, the lawmaker was seized shortly after returning home from an outing with friends.

“We suspect he was followed. Immediately the gateman opened the gate for him to drive in, the gunmen sprang from their vehicle and whisked him away,” the relative explained.

The family member further disclosed that the abductors have not yet made contact or demanded ransom. “Up till now, we haven’t heard from them, and we don’t know his condition,” the source added.

Residents of Dong expressed concern that the area has increasingly become a hotbed of criminal activity.

“Dong is very unsafe these days. Just last week, a popular social media food vendor and her brother, a corps member, were kidnapped in the same community and only released after their family reportedly paid ransom,” the relative lamented.
