Senate President Godswill Akpabio has announced that Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, will face a disciplinary panel over her protest against the reallocation of her seat in the Senate chamber.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Akpabio made the announcement during Tuesday’s plenary session, stating that a motion on the matter had been referred to the Ethics, Code of Conduct, and Public Petitions Committee for review.

Akpoti-Uduaghan had sparked controversy in the chamber after her seat was reassigned without her consent. She was moved from her original position in the minority section to the last row, a change she strongly opposed.

Reports suggest that the seat reallocation was linked to the recent defection of some lawmakers. However, Akpoti-Uduaghan’s refusal to accept the new arrangement was considered a violation of Senate rules.

Addressing the issue, Akpabio confirmed that the senator would now face the disciplinary panel, which will report its findings back to the chamber after an investigation.

He stated:

“There is a motion before us to refer the entire matter to our Ethics, Code of Conduct, and Public Petitions Committee, which will revert back to us. For the record, even the first time this issue arose, our distinguished colleague was not even speaking from her designated seat. That was when we attempted to call her to order.”
