The appeal followed the emergence of a video reportedly released by their captors, showing the couple in captivity.
In the four-minute video, which has circulated widely on social media, the retired military officer and his wife were seen standing while conveying the demands of the abductors.
Speaking in the footage, Rabe’s wife said the kidnappers were demanding the release of three individuals identified as Sani, Aminu and Nasiru, whom they claimed were being held by authorities.
She also stated that the abductors were seeking the return of livestock allegedly confiscated from them.
According to her, two of the detained individuals were arrested in Jikamshi, while the third was apprehended in Kano State.
She appealed to the Katsina State Government and leaders of five local government areas to consider the demands in order to secure their freedom.
The retired general also addressed viewers in the video, urging efforts toward peace and dialogue. He said the abductors had indicated a willingness to engage in discussions and pursue peaceful coexistence.
No monetary ransom demand was mentioned in the recording.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the Katsina State Government nor security agencies had issued an official response to the video.
Rabe was reportedly travelling to Katsina alongside his wife, Hajiya Amina Abubakar, and their driver, Abdullahi Sa’idu, when they were attacked and abducted.
The incident occurred along the Marabar Musawa–Kafinsoli Road in Matazu Local Government Area, near Zakin Baure village.
Witnesses said armed men emerged from nearby bushes, blocked the road and opened fire on the vehicle, forcing it to stop.
Sources disclosed that the driver sustained a gunshot wound to the hand during the attack but was later spared by the gunmen.
Meanwhile, notorious bandit leader Kachallah Muhammad is said to have established contact with the victims’ family.
According to sources who spoke with Daily Trust, the bandit commander, who operates in parts of Katsina State, reached out to relatives of the retired general on Monday morning.
