The community is on the brink of a crisis, as its residents are determined to resist what they perceive as the imposition of a community leader.

They have accused the Enugu State Commissioner for Chieftaincy Matters, Deacon Okey Ogbodo, of disregarding sound advice and proceeding with what they regard as an unlawful act.

Ogbodo stands accused of presenting a recognition certificate to Nwatu at the Ministry of Chieftaincy Matters in Enugu, in blatant violation of established chieftaincy laws.

Speaking to journalists in Enugu, Prince Okwy Agbo, a leading contender for the position, was joined by fellow community members.

He recounted that he had personally contacted the commissioner to remind him that there had never been a verification or election process in Obuno-Uno Autonomous Community.

Moreover, the matter was already under consideration by the Enugu State High Court, Agbani division. However, to Agbo’s astonishment, the commissioner chose to ignore his concerns.

Agbo expressed his dismay at the situation, questioning the actions of the commissioner and the implications of ignoring the legal proceedings.

He called upon Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to reconsider the issuance of the certificate without due process and to address the matter promptly.

Prince Agbo also urged the community to remain calm, emphasizing that such impositions are unacceptable in a democratic society. He called on the Governor, security agencies, religious institutions, and human rights organizations to hold the commissioner accountable for any potential disruptions of peace and order in the area.

At the time of this report, the commissioner had not responded to calls or messages sent to him.
