Tension Rises As Anyanwu Dares PDP Governors, Marches To NWC Meeting As National Scribe!

Amidst the ongoing wave of defections rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) has scheduled a crucial meeting for Tuesday to tackle the crisis and other internal issues.

According to Punch, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, recently reinstated as the National Secretary by the Supreme Court, has vowed to attend the meeting despite opposition from the Bala Mohammed-led PDP Governors’ Forum.

A senior party insider, speaking anonymously, revealed that the NWC gathering will focus on addressing the defection of PDP members to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and strategizing on how to stem the tide.

It will be recalled that on March 21, the Supreme Court ruled in Anyanwu’s favor, declaring that internal party matters are beyond judicial interference.

Following the ruling, on April 14, the PDP Governors called on the South East Zone to nominate a replacement for Anyanwu and subsequently appointed Setonji Koshoedo as the acting National Secretary.

Koshoedo, in a memo to NWC members, announced that the meeting will hold at 12 noon at the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja.

The notice read:
“Following popular demand and extensive consultations, I have been directed to convene an NWC meeting as follows:
Date: Tuesday, April 29, 2025
Venue: NWC Hall, Wadata Plaza, PDP National Secretariat, Abuja
Time: 12 Noon Sharp.
All NWC members and Cabinet Secretaries are advised to attend.”

Anyanwu confirmed his intention to attend, insisting he remains the legitimate National Secretary.

Speaking to Punch, Anyanwu called on loyal members to remain committed to rebuilding the party, saying:
“I am aware of the meeting and I will attend. The Governors’ Forum’s position is part of the crisis. I’ll be there, and we will work towards restoring peace and strengthening the PDP.”
