In a recent post on his X account, Atiku praised the people of Rivers for their resilience during adversity and commended Governor Siminalayi Fubara for ensuring a peaceful local government election despite challenges.
Responding at a luncheon honoring the 10th Rivers State Assembly, Wike accused Atiku of being rejected by Nigerians after his defeats in the 2019 and 2023 presidential elections. He remarked, “We never contested the local government elections. If you say the elections we didn’t participate in indicate rejection, then you, who contested and lost, have also been rejected.”
In turn, Atiku dismissed Wike’s comments, claiming he wouldn’t be swayed by what he called Wike’s theatrics. Atiku’s Media Adviser, Paul Ibe, stated that Wike’s remarks were “a string of inanities” lacking substance and rooted in personal grievances.
