Tensions Rise As IPOB Lawyer Refuses To Be Linked To Kanu’s Unsuccessful Appeal

Lawyer for the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has demanded that Aloy Ejimakor, the lawyer representing Nnamdi Kanu, remove his name from the Appeal Court case that was recently dismissed.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Ejiofor, who previously represented IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, accused Ejimakor of falsely linking him to the failed appeal. His comments came in response to a case file uploaded by Ejimakor, which listed his name as part of the legal team for the case.
On Thursday, the Appeal Court in Abuja upheld the Federal High Court’s 2018 decision that declared IPOB a terrorist group. Ejiofor clarified that his involvement in the case had ended in 2022, when the legal team, led by Ejimakor and Machukwu Ume (SAN), took over the appeal process. They amended the case and introduced new grounds of appeal.
Ejiofor stated, “My attention has been drawn to a misleading tweet by Aloy Ejimakor, which falsely associates me with the outcome of the recent Appeal on IPOB’s proscription. I wish to clarify the following:
“I had no involvement in the appeal after it was covertly taken over from me in 2022 by Machukwu Ume SAN and Aloy Ejimakor. They amended all the processes, including our briefs, and added new grounds for appeal. I am not in a position to explain the reasons for their unsuccessful outcome.
“When it became clear they were taking control of the appeal, I respectfully requested that my name be excluded from any future filings. I clearly informed them that I had withdrawn from the case.
“The records are clear – Aloy Ejimakor, who has consistently updated the public about the progress of the appeal while they were handling it, never mentioned me. Now, after the dismissal of the appeal, it is suspicious that he has included my name in documents as though I was part of their representation.
“As the lead figure behind the takeover of the appeal, Ejimakor and his team are solely responsible for the outcome. He should address the reasons for their failed appeal, rather than trying to drag my name into it. I urge him to take responsibility for the case’s failure and refrain from associating me with it.
“I am not surprised that he is trying to link me to their defeat, but I strongly reject and resist any attempt to mislead the public. Let it be clear, I distance myself completely from this appeal’s proceedings and outcome. Any attempt to falsely associate me with it is deceptive and unacceptable, and I will not tolerate it.”
