Umar Iliya Damagum, the PDP’s Acting National Chairman, declared that the party will not take the sealing of its headquarters lightly.

The FCTA reportedly took the action due to the party’s alleged failure to pay ground rent for 28 years.

Reacting to the development, Damagum described the move as an “abuse of power” and a blatant attack on Nigeria’s democratic principles.

Speaking to reporters after an emergency caucus meeting on Monday evening at the Bauchi Governors’ Lodge in Abuja, Damagum stated, “Let them come and arrest all of us. We refuse to treat this matter with levity. It’s a direct assault on democracy, and we will demand accountability.”

He further alleged that the closure was politically motivated and aimed at destabilizing the PDP.

“If this government is encouraging such actions, then we cannot remain silent. This is an outright attempt to undermine democracy and it’s totally unacceptable,” Damagum said.

He condemned the FCTA’s actions as a “reckless and irresponsible” act by the current administration, vowing that the PDP would resist it.
